Barbarian Assault

This page, and all subpages of it, are intended to document the mechanics of Barbarian Assault. The minigame itself is not yet implemented in the game. This is due to Ryan taking more than the two days that he had promised to code it. Because of this we added a custom way of getting the Fighter Torso which requires 7,5m to purchase. The Dialogue shows how many days since Ryan made the promise.

, located at the Barbarian Outpost. It involves waves, where players in a team of 5 enter a Barbarian Assault cave to fight creatures called penance. The goal is to kill all the penance in a wave without any player on the team dying. There are 10 waves, of increasing difficulty and increasing rewards, but they must be completed in order. Players each have a role.

Penance and Roles

There are 4 types of penance (excluding the boss and its minions), and 4 roles for players. Additionally, penance drop eggs. The correspondence between penance/eggs and roles is in the following table.

PenanceRole
Fighterplugin-autotooltip__default plugin-autotooltip_bigPenance Fighter

Penance Fighters are a combat enemy faced in the Barbarian Assault minigame. They are stacked. They have 1 eye and a 6-pack. Their very muscly torso inspires the famous Fighter Torso.Penance Fighters are melee creatures. They attack exclusively with melee. Waves Penance Fighters gain strength each wave. Fighters in wave 1 are relatively weak; fighters in wave 9 are notoriously strong.
Attackerplugin-autotooltip__default plugin-autotooltip_bigAttacker

The attacker is a role in the Barbarian Assault minigame.Attacker is the only combat role. All other roles use noncombat or indirect combat means to fulfill their goals. The attacker's goal is to kill penance fighters and rangers.
Rangerplugin-autotooltip__default plugin-autotooltip_bigPenance Ranger

Penance Rangers are a combat enemy faced in the Barbarian Assault minigame. They are not ugly, they just have a face that only a mother could love.Penance Rangers are ranged creatures. They attack exclusively with ranged. Waves Penance Rangers gain strength each wave. Rangers in wave 1 are relatively weak; rangers in wave 9 are notoriously strong.

Runnerplugin-autotooltip__default plugin-autotooltip_bigPenance Runner

Penance Runners are a noncombat enemy faced in the Barbarian Assault minigame. They are a curious creature. Their mechanics are notoriously complicated.Penance Runners are passive creatures. They do not interact with players at all, other than standard NPC blocking rules. Only the defender role can interact with runners, and must do so indirectly via dropping bait for them.
Defenderplugin-autotooltip__default plugin-autotooltip_bigDefender

The defender is a role in the Barbarian Assault minigame. The defender's role is to kill penance runners. They do so by dropping bait to lure penance runners to a trap, which will then kill runners when they stop to eat near it.Performing the defender role well requires good attention to detail, and typically some level of multitasking. It helps to either know runner mechanics or know some popular strategies for the role.
Healerplugin-autotooltip__default plugin-autotooltip_bigPenance Healer

Penance Healers are a noncombat enemy faced in the Barbarian Assault minigame. They are somewhat nightmarish in appearance.Penance Healers do not attack players, but they can poison players. The damage dealt by healer poison is very small, usually negligible.
Healerplugin-autotooltip__default plugin-autotooltip_bigHealer

The healer is a role in the Barbarian Assault minigame.Healers have 2 significant roles: heal players, and kill enemy penance healers. The healer role is generally considered to require good situational awareness. Healers receive partial information concerning how to complete their role: they are given a status bar indicating how much health each team member has (but not where they are located); and they are able to observe the health bars of any penance healers within their sight range.
Eggplugin-autotooltip__default plugin-autotooltip_bigPenance Egg

Penance eggs are dropped by penance in the Barbarian Assault minigame. There are 4 types of eggs, each with a different color. Each type of egg has a different nature and purpose. Eggs are used by firing them out of a cannon, as one does.Only the collector role can pick up eggs.
Collectorplugin-autotooltip__default plugin-autotooltip_bigCollector

The collector is a role in the Barbarian Assault minigame. The collector is a marginally useful role that handles dealing with eggs in the minigame. The most useful thing that a collector does is pick up eggs, thus scoring points for the team. Actually using the eggs is not recommended. Red eggs can sometimes be useful.

Penance Queen

Barbarian assault has 1 boss creature, the Penance Queenplugin-autotooltip__default plugin-autotooltip_bigPenance Queen

The Penance Queen is the boss creature of Barbarian Assault. The Queen is faced as the final battle of the minigame. The Queen is massive, and looks like a giant deformed cricket. She is beautiful in her own way. ----------

Wave The Penance Queen is faced on wave 10 of the minigame; see
. The Queen has minions, the penance spawnplugin-autotooltip__default plugin-autotooltip_bigPenance Spawn

Penance spawn are minions to the Penance Queen.Penance spawn are tiny. They look like a cross between a crane fly nymph and an earthworm.Spawn are exclusively melee creatures. They are relatively weak, but have a reasonably high attack speed, and can pile on players.
.
