The work you did in the Death Plateau Quest has resulted in even more issues popping up in Burthorpe! Now some citizens have gone missing and are rumored to be held in the dreaded Troll Stronghold said to exist far in the mountains to the north. Do you have what it takes to defeat the dangers of the mountains and rescue them?

Make your way to Burthorpe through any convenient means available to you. Suggested means could include:
Once there, make your way to the tent marked at spot 1 on the map above. There you will find your old friend *Denulth*. After he welcomes you back (from Death Plateau Quest earlier) you will need to ask him “How goes your fight with the trolls?”
Sadly, Denulth reports their attack met unexpected resistance. Apparently an ambush led to the capture of Dunstan's son, Godric, who had been enlisted earlier at your request! Denulth's team's attempt to follow were repulsed at the foot of their stronghold.
Naturally, feeling (no doubt) a bit guilty, you should ask “Is there anything I can do to help?” Fortunately (of course) Denulth has a suggestion (more implied)…You might be able to get the poor boy back! First he warns you of the treacherous path and the many foes you might encounter should you choose to make this attempt. Of course you could say “no”, but if you want to complete this quest you should respond with “I'll get Godric back!” After wishing you God speed, Denulth lets you know that none of their men are brave enough to follow.
Make sure you are now fully equipped for the rest of this adventure. Armour, food, and climbing boots are going to be put to use shortly. It is strongly recommended you also bring a Games Necklace.
If you for some reason do not still have your climbing boots from the Death Plateau Quest they can be purchased from Tenzing's house (at spot 2 on the map above) for 12 gp
Make your way, following the yellow path marked on our map to Tenzing's house marked as 2 on our map. Enter the house from the east and leave via the exit to the north. There, you should hop the stile to embark onto the mountainous trail.
Continue on this path, past the mountain goat, to the spot marked 3 on our map. Here you will encounter rocks blocking your way to the north. Right click and choose to “Climb Rocks” (Requires 15 Agility). Proceed, following the trail on the map, to and over 2 more rocky spots you will have to climb (marked as 4 and 5) till you come to a gate (marked as 6) labeled as the Arena Entrance when examined.
After right clicking and opening the gate you will hear the menacing voice of the Troll known as Dad (Level 101). He announces:
Being the brave (or perhaps foolhardy?) adventurer that you are, you step through the gate and into the arena to the point marked 7 on our map. Dad is a fairly menacing opponent for a low combat level and it is advised that you should pray Protect Against Melee (Level 43 Prayer) during this fight if you are so encumbered.
Before you can fight him, however, you should right-click and choose Talk-to Dad to and tell him “I accept your challenge!” Dad will comment on your bravery and then get on with his attempts to “squish” you…
Surprisingly, once you have Dad down to a low enough level he will give up the fight, saying that he doesn't want to be hurt anymore.
It is suggested to be sure to turn off your prayer at this point to conserve it for later!
At this point you can exit the arena through the north eastern gate, marked 8 on our map.
Be aware there are aggressive Mountain Trolls (Levels 69 and 71) ahead!
Follow the path on the map and use the cave entrance marked as 9 on the map. Once inside this cave (entrance marked as 10 on our map) run quickly past the 3 trolls within to the exit marked 11 on our map. You should emerge at the point marked 12 on the map.
At this point you will be traveling around the mountain known as Trollheim. There is a potential ranging hazard from Thrower Trolls (Level 68) who are scattered along above the area where our map's line goes from yellow to purple. Using Protect from Range (Level 40 Prayer) is advisable when passing this area.
Continuing to follow the mapped path will take you to the troll village (such as it is) guarding the main entrance to the Stronghold. Where the path on our map turns to light blue you will be likely to encounter more aggressive Mountain Trolls (Levels 69 and 71). For this leg of the trip it is recommended to once more pray Protect Against Melee (Level 43 Prayer). The path will take you to the north of the village and up the ramp to the entrance to the Stronghold itself.
Note: Trolls CAN be on this path all the way up to the Stronghold entrance itself at the top of the ramp!
Once you are the cave entrance at the top of the ramp prepare to enter the Stronghold (marked as 13 on our map)!
Upon entering the Stronghold (marked as 14 on our maps) you will need to proceed south to the first door heading west (marked as 15 on our maps). Along this path you may encounter aggressive Mountain Trolls (Levels 69 and 71). Lower combat level players are advised to not engage them and instead proceed to and through the door. Conserve food and prayer as needed.
Once you have entered the door you may have a few minutes to rest (if you need it). The Troll general (Level 113) is sometimes found in the bedroom to the north west (marked as 16 on our maps). If he happens to be in the main room as you enter you will have to fight him right there. Protect Against Melee (Level 43 Prayer) is advised for lower combat level players.
Once he is defeated and killed the Troll general will drop a Prison key, Big bones, and possibly other items from their drop table. Make sure you grab at least the Prison key!
Exit the area where you fought the Troll general using the same door you used to enter (again, marked as 15 on our maps). Now proceed south to the Stone staircase (marked as 17 on our maps) leading to the depths below. Once you arrive at the bottom of the staircase (marked as 18 on our maps)head north through the door (marked as 19 on our maps)taking care to avoid the 4 Troll cooks in the area.
Proceed further north till the passage bends to the east. Note you may once more encounter aggressive Mountain Trolls (Levels 69 and 71) in this passageway. At the end you will find the Prison Door (marked as 20 on our maps). Open this and enter (nice to have a key, isn't it?) and take the Stone Staircase (marked as 21 on our maps)down to the next level.
Once down this staircase (marked as 22 on our maps)proceed into the prison area. The prison area includes multiple cells, 2 of which are occupied, as well as 2 Level 71 sleeping trolls (in the area marked as 23 on our maps) who, we suppose, are meant to be guarding the inmates. These trolls are named Berry and Twig.
Right-click and attempt to Pickpocket (Level 30+ Thieving required) both trolls. If you are unsuccessful they will awaken requiring you to fight and kill them (Protect Against Melee (Level 43 Prayer) is advised for lower combat level players here). These trolls will drop (or allow you to procure) one key each. Twig drops Cell key 1 and Berry Cell key 2.
Rick-click on the Cell Doors and choose to unlock them to free Eadgar and Godric.
At this point you can either re-navigate the path in reverse to reach Burthorpe (not advised…much drama…too much time) or use your Games Necklace to teleport back to the Burthorpe Games Room! (marked as 24 on our maps)
Once you are safely back in Burthorpe its time to tell Godric's father, Dunstan (in the house marked as 25 on our maps) that you've been successful in freeing his son.
Overjoyed by the news, Dunstan has some gifts for you including some family heirlooms found by his great-great-grandfather…they look suspiciously like lamps!
Congratulations! Quest Complete!
